Why blog?

So we’re doing this mostly to respond to complaints from the grandparents that we don’t share enough photos etc. even when we’re in-country. Now that we are leaving we will use this forum to keep in touch with family and friends and post about our adventures — assuming that something adventurous happens. While moving halfway around the world might seem adventurous, once we are there it might be boring old day to day life the same as here: school/work, home, dinner, family time, repeat. But given that both school and work will be different than what we are used to, and even dinner might bring something new, I am confident that we will have enough to post. C and K2 are even keen to takeover authorship now and then. I’m curious to see what an 8 and 11 year old might think is “blog-worthy”. The teenagers? Not so much. Why blog when you can text, snapchat, and instagram your friends? I fear blogging might be like facebook for them — quaint old technology for the grandparents, not for them. We’ll see how it goes. For now it’s two weeks of summer vacation before we’re off. Wish us luck!

  1. I am so glad Juliette sent us this blog address. I will be keeping up with all your blogs for sure.

  2. I just found your blog! I am wanting to ‘subscribe’ to it so I can see your updates – any way to do this?

    Miss you all!

    1. Neither of us are particularly tech savvy so we are just impressed that we got this far. We will try and figure out about the whole subscription thing. In the meantime I will hook it up to Facebook whenever we publish something new. Hope you guys are doing well.
